Christopher's Story

Christopher’s father would drink heavily after work. The drinking gave him a bad temper. He was not a violent drunk, but his tongue and anger was enough to frighten Christopher and his siblings. Christopher remembers lying in bed late at night, listening to his parents bicker loudly for hours. Christopher felt neglected by his father since he would send his kids away to stay with his relatives every school holiday.
When the news broke that his dad was dying of emphysema, he flew home to tell his father goodbye. The passing of his father remains a reminder to Christopher of the harsh effects alcohol had on his father.
